Hair Restoration in Washington, DC

If you have either temporary or permanent hair loss, hair restoration options are available.  Younger Image Hair Transplant Clinic, located in Vienna, offers hair restoration treatments for men and women in and around Washington, DC, and Gaithersburg, Maryland.

What is Causing My Hair to Fall Out?

Contrary to popular belief, aging and personal hygiene habits are not typically the cause of hair loss.  Among men, genetics are usually the culprit.  Women’s hair loss is often a result of different factors than men’s hair loss. Hormonal changes, diet, stress, and more can lead to hair loss in women.  Some medications, medical conditions, and illnesses also play a leading role.

What Are the Most Important Factors in Hair Restoration?

First and foremost, being realistic about what hair replacement can accomplish is critical.  Bringing in a picture of your favorite celebrity’s hairstyle to mimic may seem like a good idea, but in practice, that particular style may not work on your hair.  Your goals will be determined by what is feasible for you.  Factors such as hair loss location, the amount of healthy hair available to graft, hair color, hair texture, and complexion all come into play.

Hair restoration is an art that requires close attention to detail and an innate ability to make the hair look natural.  At Younger Image Hair Transplant Clinic, making patients feel comfortable with their hair restoration specialist and the decisions they make is vital to us.  During your consultation, be sure to ask plenty of questions and let us know if there is anything additional we can do to help you make the most informed decision possible.

What to Expect From Hair Transplantation?

If you opt for a hair transplant, the method selected for your surgery will depend on your hair loss pattern and factors such as your complexion and hair color will affect how full your hair looks after the procedure.

During your consultation, the hair restoration specialist at Younger Image Hair Transplant Clinic will review your options and explain the results you can expect.  All surgery details, including surgical technique, anesthesia type, recovery, potential risks, and more will be discussed.

After your hair replacement surgery, prepare for a short wait to see results.  It will take approximately four months to see visible hair growth.  Within six to eight months, improvements to your hair will be notable since 60 to 70 percent of the grafted follicles will be actively growing.  Although friends, co-workers, and relatives might not specifically know why you look different, prepare for compliments, such as “You look great!” or “Have you lost weight?”  In one year, your hair will be filled in and grown out.

At the Younger Image Hair Transplant Clinic, we offer a variety of hair transplant therapies. Click on the link below to learn more about each type of therapy.

Hair Replacement Process

Today’s hair transplant techniques allow doctors to recreate normal hair growth patterns.  Patients can enjoy their new hair for years after the procedure without anyone knowing they ever lost their hair.

Hair replacement surgery is unique for each patient; however, some consistent processes occur during the procedure.  First, a small needle with local anesthesia is used to numb an area of your head.  A round section of your scalp, covered with hair will be removed and will become the donor graft.  Your scalp is then closed.  Using a magnifying lens and a sharp surgical knife, your surgeon separates the graft into small sections. Tiny holes are made with a blade or a needle in the scalp area getting the transplanted hair.  Hairs are gently placed in the holes.  Hundreds or thousands of hairs may be inserted during one treatment.  Your stitches are removed about 10 days after surgery.

Local anesthesia is typically administered during the procedure.  Oral medication is also available upon request to help you relax.
